Overview: Horizon Farm Credit seeks an Accounting Specialist to join our team. The qualified candidate may work in the Westminster, MD or Mechanicsburg, PA branch locations. The hours of operation are typically, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule after 6 months of successful employment. This is a great opportunity to make a difference in agriculture and rural communities.
In this role, you’ll handle a variety of administrative tasks and accounting responsibilities, including: supporting cash management, processing Accounts Payable, fixed asset management, journal entry preparation, and reconciliations. You’ll ensure transactions are accurately and promptly posted to various systems and take on additional duties as needed.
Areas of Responsibility Include:

– Administrative tasks

– GFX wire responsibilities
– Fixed Asset Management
Journal Entry Processing and Account Reconciliations:
– Processing of routine to basic or moderate general ledger transactions, while ensuring appropriate documentation and compliance with procedures
– Properly and timely prepares assigned account reconciliations
Other duties as assigned by management
Education
– Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field.
Experience
– Generally, zero to three years of accounting experience.
Preferred Skills
– Possess sufficient communications skills, both written and oral to represent the Association in a professional manner.
– Ability to initiate, organize, and prioritize work required.
– Basic understandin g of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
– Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
– Must possess basic analytical skills that are inherently necessary in an accounting/financial environment.
– Must possess problem-solving skills necessary to solve routine accounting problems and make routine decisions.
– Adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment.
– Ability to travel to/from other branch offices, customer meetings, etc., as deemed necessary.
– Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance is required.

Salary Range: $45,000 – $55,000, depending on previous experience
