JOB OVERVIEW
The President & CEO position at the Farm Credit Council offers an exciting opportunity to lead an organization dedicated to the success of agriculture and rural America. The President and CEO, working in partnership with the FCC Board of Directors, is responsible for advancing the mission and strategic goals of the organization. This role provides strategic direction, effective leadership, and advocacy to support the interests of the Farm Credit System and its member organizations. This role reports to the FCC Board of Directors.
In addition to a generous annual bonus opportunity and competitive benefits, the salary range for this position is $350,000-600,000 annually. Additionally, our employees operate on a hybrid schedule, currently working remotely 2 days per week.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for Farm Credit Council, in alignment with the goals of the Farm Credit System.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set strategic priorities and ensure the organization’s long-term success.
- Identify the short and long-term needs, goals and challenges of the members and ensure that the programs and initiatives of the organization are directed toward addressing those needs, goals and challenges.
- Has significant interaction with Board of Directors regarding organizational operations, initiatives and strategy.
Advocacy and Industry Relations:
- Serve as the primary advocate and spokesperson for the Farm Credit Council, fostering strong relationships with policymakers, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting agriculture and finance.
- Advocate on behalf of Farm Credit institutions and their member/borrowers in legislative and regulatory matters. This involves representing their interests to Congress, federal agencies, and other stakeholders.
Membership and Collaboration:
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with Farm Credit System member organizations, their teams and boards of directors.
- Promote the value of the Farm Credit Council membership and engage members in the organization’s activities.
- Coordinate efforts among Farm Credit institutions to ensure a unified approach to common challenges and opportunities. This includes facilitating communication, information sharing and collaboration within the System.
- Actively participate and collaborate with Farm Credit System CEOs and leaders and understand and assure Farm Credit is meeting the needs of members.
Financial and Operational Management:
- Oversee the financial health of Farm Credit Council, including budget development, resource allocation, and fiscal responsibility.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
Communication and Outreach:
- Effectively communicate the Farm Credit System’s contributions to American agriculture to various stakeholders.
- Utilize media, public speaking, and other channels to raise awareness and support for the organization’s mission.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 10-15 years of progressive supervisory experience required.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the U.S. agricultural industry.
- Preferred knowledge of the Farm Credit System.
- Supports the core values and mission of the organization.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic thinking, an understanding of financial metrics, and a track record of successfully implementing organizational strategies.
- Expert levels of ingenuity and analytical skills are required to evaluate alternatives and develop new approaches to resolving problems and assess ambiguous and/or changing facts or conditions affecting the organization.
- Comfort and understanding of working with a Board of Directors.
- Proven executive leadership experience, preferably within the financial, agricultural, or cooperative sectors.
- Strong understanding of legislative processes and regulatory environments, preferably including agricultural finance.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex political and industry landscapes.

- Requires excellent organization skills with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Requires expert verbal and written communication skills to lead function and ensure both external and internal stakeholders are kept abreast of functional progress.
- Plays a visible leadership role for the organization with external coalitions and audiences
- Identifies and develops current and future talent of the organization.
- Position requires 50% travel.
