Position Title: Credit Analyst

Position Summary:
Colonial Farm Credit (www.colonialfarmcredit.com) is an agricultural credit cooperative and provides loans for:
– Production capital for full-time and part-time farmers
– The Forest products industry
– Ag-related businesses
– Farms and country homes
– Land purchases, home construction, and improvements
– Buildings, machinery, livestock, and equipment
We have an excellent employment opportunity for a Credit Analyst in our Commercial Loan Group. The candidate will be responsible for:
– gathering, analyzing, and reconciling credit and financial data for all types of commercial credits (mid-size, large, and complex forest products industry and agricultural loans) using the five credit factors under the guidelines of differential analysis
– preparing all loan documents associated with the analysis of the assigned credit including loan agreements when necessary and drafting loan analyses explaining loan purpose, structure, risk, controls, etc.
– making recommendations on which the delegated authority will base its decision for loan approval
– making recommendations of rates, terms, security, and loan controls that are necessary for maintaining an acceptable credit risk
– developing loan-servicing plans for monitoring credit
Education and Experience:
Required:
– Bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics, finance, business administration, or economics
– General understanding of farm business management, finance, and macroeconomics
– Strong analysis, judgment, communication (oral and written), and organizational skills
– Computer experience with intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel to carry out the essential responsibilities of this position
– In-depth knowledge and skill in risk analysis, loan administration, and loan servicing
– Ability to: – understand and interpret financial statements and cash flow analysis
– work under limited supervision and in compliance with established policies, procedures and regulations
– be assertive and decisive in arriving at sound business decisions
– effectively handle multiple tasks and work independently
– work in a team atmosphere
– exercise discreti on, independent judgment, initiative, and creativity
– Acceptable background reports (credit, criminal, driving, and drug)
Preferred (and beneficial to successful applicant):
– Three (3) years or more of employment experience gained through credit positions
– Awareness of current economic developments and production technology affecting agriculture and the forest products industry in the region
– Knowledge of farm and/or forest products industry production methods and products
