Horizon Farm Credit is actively seeking a Credit Analyst Team Lead to join our Credit Analysis team. Qualified candidate may work in any available Horizon Farm Credit branch. Posting Description: Step into a leadership role as our Credit Analyst Team Lead! You’ll serve as a trusted financial expert, guiding the underwriting of complex loans and collaborating closely with loan officers and processors to ensure high-quality credit decisions. You’ll manage the underwriting pipeline, provide quality control, and serve as a mentor and subject matter expert across the Association. Areas of Responsibility:

  • Analyze financial information, prepare detailed loan narratives, and structure credit recommendations using the 5 Cs of Credit. Collaborate with loan officers and processors to finalize and process credit decisions.
  • Manage the loan underwriting queue to ensure timely decisions and maintain high communication with lending and operations teams.
  • Review underwriting work for accuracy, ensure proper documentation, and validate PD/LGD ratings, loan structures, and covenants.
  • Serve as a technical expert and mentor to credit analysts. Provide training, support, and guidance on processes, systems, and best practices.
  • Identify and implement workflow enhancements. Participate in pilot teams and cross-functional projects to support continuous improvement.
  • Engage with teams across the Association to support strategic initiatives and ensure alignment with policies and procedures.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, Finance, or a related field.

Experience

  • Generally, five or more years of experience in credit or lending, with prior underwriting experience, is preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • An advanced knowledge of agricultural lending and related financial products and services and selling skills.
  • Superior analytical and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership as a mentor, trainer, and credit resource.
  • Experience leading or participating in cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ability to be self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment.
  • Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance is required.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Salary range: $86,000 – $100,000 depending on experience. Opportunity to earn additional annual bonus incentive.
