Under the close guidance of supervisors and more experienced Credit Analysts, the Credit Analyst Trainee develops and analyzes credit information for use by the Association in making lending decisions. Prepares complete loan packages independently on small- to mid-sized and low-complexity accounts. Determines if the financial profile of the borrower meets the Association’s underwriting standards and credit philosophy. Completes all documents including numeric projections and written analyses, and makes clear and appropriate recommendations for action on loans and loan treatments.

Responsibilities/Duties:
• Completes accurate and timely credit analysis, documentation, and risk identification on loans submitted for decision, typically on loans of small size and limited complexity.
• Communicates clearly with all Association staff involved in t he lending function.
• May meet with approving parties to assist in their deliberations.
• Monitors specified loans on a regular basis and as necessary for compliance with loan servicing plans.
• Exercises limited discretion and independent judgment.
• Under close direction and guidance makes recommendations that are a part of the basis on which the approving party will base the decision for loan approval.
• Makes recommendations of terms, security, and loan controls that are necessary for maintaining an acceptable credit risk to the ACA.
• Keeps abreast of industry trends in returns, investments, yields, varieties, etc., and assimilates knowledge to support assumptions and projections.
• Attends management-recommended training and other training to develop analytical skills and lending knowledge.
• Attends business/industry events as assigned by the manager.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, agriculture or a related field
• Six months experience in agriculture-related work or commercial finance preferred
• Certifications Driver’s license for work-related travel to branches and training events.
• Initiative – Ability to work independently under general supervision.
• General knowledge of credit analysis and regulatory requirements.
• General knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook sufficient to create, update, and save a variety of documents.
• General knowledge of production agriculture.
• General knowledge of finance and macroeconomics.
• Skill in utilizing technology to increase efficiency.
• Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor, and customers.
• Skill in organizing normal wor k assignments.
• Capability to handle high-stress situations in a professional manner.
