As Deputy Chief Credit Officer at AgCarolina Farm Credit, you’ll report to the Chief Credit Officer and play a pivotal role in managing overall credit risk while supporting the Chief Credit Officer in strategic planning. You’ll be responsible for credit administration management and tasked with approving and administering loans and loan commitments ensuring adherence to existing policy guidelines. You will ensure documentation is adequate for security of collateral, providing a “first line of defense” within the Association’s credit risk management framework. The position also oversees primary credit portfolio management and reporting activities. You should take pride in leading, mentoring, and empowering team members to enhance their capabilities while fostering the Association’s credit culture. The Deputy Chief Credit Officer leads the review of the loan portfolio on a continuing basis to prevent or mitigate loan losses and identify opportunities for business improvement.

What You’ll Do:
– Leads the Association’s efforts to properly assess and manage credit administration utilizing sound decision making skills, risk analysis and reporting
– Assist Chief Credit Officer in managing the Association credit strategy ensuring sound credit decision making in line with risk appetite and business goals
– Monitor quality of Association loan portfolio, identify potential credit risks and trends, and implement strategies for mitigation
– Provide direct leadership and coaching, support recruitment, training, development, and performance evaluation for Credit Administration team
– Assist Chief Credit Officer in promoting and implementing the Association credit culture to ensure consistency and soundness in the credit decision process
– Administer sound credit decisions based on Association policies and procedures
– Provide coaching to lending staff on credit risk and skills development
– Manages the execution of loan portfolio credit objectives, policies, and business plans while identifying opportunities for business improvement
– Participate in developing and upholding credit risk policies, procedures, and guidance to mitigate risk and ensure adherence in the loan origination process
– Leads Loan Committee and provides guidance on complex credit packages
– Collaborate with credit analyst team and lenders to ensure quality and consistency in credit presentation
– Compile portfolio statistics and risk reports for Board reporting and portfolio management
– Ensure compliance with FCA regulations, reporting requirements, and proactively address potential compliance issues
– Collaborate effectively with team members and neighboring departments
– Build and maintain a positive working relationship with others to enhance the Association’s reputation in the market
– Participate in scheduled training and professional development

What We’re Looking For:
– Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or agricultural economics; 10+ years credit administration/analysis experience or equivalent
– Farm Credit experience preferred
– Experience with strategic and business planning
– Leadership and managerial experience preferred
– Strong written and oral communication skills and analytical judgment
– Assertive and confident in making sound business decisions
– Resilient in high-pressure scenarios with a professional demeanor
– Expert understanding of the 5 C’s of Credit: Capacity, Capital, Conditions, Character, Collateral
– Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Windows
– Self-directed, adaptable, and team-oriented in addition to exhibiting sound decision making skills
– Ability to travel within AgCarolina Farm Credit’s territory and outside the territory as required
– Agricultural background preferred but not required

Internal candidates must have at least 5 years of Farm Credit experience, a Fully Successful rating or higher on their most recent performance review and have been in their current role for at least 2 years before applying.
