Position Overview:
This position manages a crop insurance book of business in an inside sales role. Services assigned policies and focuses on retention and cross-selling, typically interacting with clients in the office; or via phone, mail or text. May be required to infrequently meet clients “on the farm”. Collaborates with the Insurance team and provides support by entering and processing claims, reviewing and gathering documents, scanning and filing documents and communicating with clients.

Essential Functions:

  • Gathers required documents for coverage including, but not limited to applications, acreage reports, production reports, processor contracts, power of attorney forms, high risk land exclusion, etc.
  • Reviews documents for accuracy and completion, a s requested.
  • Scans completed documents into document management system and files according to document name.
  • Works with Insurance Services to ensure internal policy and procedures are met.
  • Enters claims into Approved Insurance Provider system and processes claim indemnities once payment is made.
  • Processes client insurance claims working with adjusters, clients and insurance companies to reach an agreeable settlement for all parties involved.
  • Focuses on client retention and cross-selling products that benefit the client.
  • Generates crop insurance sales, typically acquired through client communications via office walk-in, phone, mail, email or text. May infrequently visit client farm.
  • Provides crop insurance product information to clients. Answers client crop insurance questions on applications, confirmation of coverage, acreage reports, production reports and schedules.
  • Collaborates with Approved Insurance Provider underw riters and/or Insurance Officers in providing services and addressing concerns.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of crop insurance products available through Compeer Financial and all related FCS eligibility regulations. Remains current on product details and program changes.

Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Associate’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, agriculture or other related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions of the job. Prefer Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of inside sales experience in insurance or financial industries. Prefer experience working with crop insurance.
  • Must have a valid crop insurance license or obtain one within three months from the time of hire.
  • General knowledge of crop insurance programs and information, grain marketing, finance and macr oeconomics.
  • General knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Marketing and sales skills with the ability to discover and address challenges.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong client service and interpersonal skills in dealing with both internal and external clients.
  • Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, clients and leadership.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines in a team environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills in using Microsoft applications, including e‐mail, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and Approved Insurance Provider databases.
