MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field and zero (0) to three (3) years of professional experience in the insurance/underwriting field. Crop license in the state of Alabama required.
JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Performs outside sales of crop insurance. Works with prospective clients and existing customers to explain features and merits of policies offered, recommending the type and amount of coverage based on analyses of customer’s circumstances.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. Works under minimum supervision. A significant degree of discretion, analysis and independent judgment is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Compiles lists of prospective clients to provide leads for additional business. Travels to prospective client’s location and explains features and merits of policies offered, r ecommending the type and amount of coverage based on an analysis of the prospect’s circumstances.
2. Reviews financial and legal information. Calculates and quotes premium rates for recommended policies. Monitors collection of premiums from policyholders. Helps policyholders settle loss claims.
3. Formulates plans to retain existing clientele, suggests additions or changes in insurance program to policyholders.
4. Develops long-term relationships with clients and underwriters. Serves as a liaison between the Association and insurance carriers.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Specialized knowledge of crop and multi-peril insurance and insurance underwriting standards. Specialized knowledge of the practices and procedures of insurance underwriting; General knowledge of accounting/financial systems; Skill in oral and written communication; Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to perform intermediate to advanced-level an alyses under limited supervision.
