Position Description:
Conduct pre and post purchase analysis of institutional fixed-income securities under the direction of a portfolio manager or trader. Assist senior trader with investing excess cash in overnight repo or money market instruments. Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of individual securities, industry segments, or other potential investment opportunities. Monitors market conditions, external fixed-income research, and trading volume/activity. Assists in the development of a trading strategy meant to enhance liquidity, profitability, and comply with asset/liability management objectives. Responsible for preparing and presenting evidence of individual transaction and portfolio compliance to management. Identifies relative value opportunities that support portfolio strategies. Executes periodic portfolio level analysis and prepares reports detailing current and projected portfolio composition and performance.
Day-to Day-Duties and Responsibilities:
– Collects and analyzes financial information for assigned securities or sectors to assist in the development of investment strategies for one or more portfolios.
– Verify fixed-income investments’ accordance with portfolio strategies and regulatory compliance.
– Interacts directly with approved broker/dealers to assist in trade execution and/or fixed-income market strategy discussion.
– Collects and interprets price, yield, cashflow data, or other financial metrics on current and potential investment holdings.
– Tracks and reports on current or expected financial performance and makes recommendations meant to support the bank’s asset/liability objectives.
– Integrates data from accounting and analytic databases into portfolio level reports on a periodic and ad-hoc basis. < br />- Interacts with internal departments – Cash Management, Security Settlement, Investment Accounting, Debt/Derivatives, Interest Rate Risk Management, Legal, Compliance – to support the bank’s asset/liability objectives.
What You Bring to the Team:

Bachelor’s degree with a major in finance or business administration with a course concentration in finance, accounting, or banking and three (3) to five (5) years of experience in diverse institutional fixed-income securities, financial analysis, or banking. MBA or CFA designation, or progress towards, highly desirable.
Possesses solid working knowledge of fixed income market dynamics. Ability to communicate/ coordinate effectively with all levels of management as well as with outside vendors; Ability to exercise sound judgment, use discretion and m aintain confidentiality. Ability to work with minimal supervision and to travel on a limited basis. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Skill in oral and written communication. Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office applications. Possesses analytical thinking and mathematical skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
