Who We’re Looking For:

  • Latino/Latina college sophomore, junior, first semester senior, or graduate students. 
  • Majoring in: Business, Finance, Agriculture, Human Resources or related field.
  • GPA of 2.5+ 
  • Preference given to first generation college students 
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Must be comfortable using Microsoft Office tools, with the ability to learn new software.
  • Students are encouraged to use bilingual (Spanish) skills.

Business Interns will primarily be located within our Central Office in Jefferson City!

This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act. 

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: Senior Vice President, Human Resources or Designee

Supervises: None

This 10-Week Internship opportunity typically begins towards the end of May and will conclude the beginning of August.

Job Functions*

Percentage Job Functions
50% Internship Program – (10 Weeks)

  • Learn the components of the lending process and working with customers
  • Learn credit fundamentals and credit philosophy
  • Learn the process of appraising real and chattel properties
  • Learn about the audit process.
  • Learn the variety of risk management options offered by FCS Financial including crop, livestock, and life insurance.
20% Projects

  • Complete one or more projects identified by FCS that are hands-on in nature and designed to add value to the company.
  • Presentations to the Board of Directors, senior leadership, mentors and other staff will be conducted towards the end of the internship.
20% Communication

  • Work with several mentors within various areas of the Association.
  • Interact with FCS staff as a team member.
10% Marketing

  • Learn about customer relationships and marketing and contribute to FCS image as the leading agriculture financial institution committed to customers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled as an undergraduate (sophomore, junior or senior) or as a graduate student in a 4-year institution of higher education in Missouri
  • Preference given to those first in their family to be enrolled in an institution of higher education
  • Preference given to those majoring in business, finance, agriculture, HR, or a related field
  • Must have participated in the 4-H Youth Futures Program

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • General knowledge of FCS Financial
  • General knowledge of the agricultural industry
  • General knowledge of agriculture/rural communities
  • General knowledge of financial services industry
  • General knowledge of basic financial/accounting terms and applications
  • Skill in using Microsoft technologies including e-mail, word and spreadsheet processing
  • Oral and written communication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics, and to effectively communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences
  • Responsible to appropriately protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data
