POSITION: Linux Administrator
ACCOUNTABLE TO: VP, IT – Operations
POSITION OBJECTIVES: To administer a mid-size primary and back-up site which includes up to 100 users and running two or more different operating systems and responsibility for maintaining and securing the Corporation’s local and wide area networks. The position involves dealing with computer and data security on a daily basis. The organization recognizes its vulnerability to the danger of data corruption or illegal access to our systems. For this reason, the individual must be of high caliber, honest and conscientious. The position requires the following skillset: Experience in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Networking, and Security, is desirable.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Funding Corporation’s hardware, operating systems (Linux) and all attendant utility programs.
• Installation and maintenance of application software.
• Maintenance of local and wide area networks.
• Diagnosing hardware and software problems.
• Writing and debugging shell script/batch files/powershell script programs. This includes integrating Linux or Windows commands into shell scripts and identifying routine systems administration tasks where a script could improve productivity.
• Collaborate with application developers to ensure programs comply with the current systems environment. Make appropriate changes to system requirements and configurations to accommodate new applications.
• Collaborate with Oracle DBAs to optimize environment and maintain a secure deployment
• Ensure systems efficiency, integrity and security.
• Local and wide area network maintenance.
• Troubleshoot network problems covering a variety of computer and communications hardware and software as well as transmission facilities.
• Understanding of the Internet and all its services.
• System and service monitoring.
• Ensuring access to corporate systems are secure.
• Ongoing maintenance of a “hot” back-up site.
BACKGROUND & QUALIFICATIONS:
• University degree in computer science or a related curriculum.
• Minimum of ten years of Linux Administration experience.
• Understanding of networked, distributed, and cloud computing environments.
• Experience with containers.
• Experience in a cloud environment.
• Experience with Access and Identity Management.
• Experience with Windows administration desirable.
• Experience with high availability technology as well as installing, maintaining and testing a “hot” backup/disaster site.
• Experience in implementing, maintaining and securing local and wide area networks including Internet access.
• Fundamental understanding of routers, firewalls and switches to enhance network performance.
• Experience in system hardening and security best practices.

COMPENSATION: $150-$165K (DoE) + Annual bonus
