Overview

Horizon Farm Credit is actively seeking a Loan Accountant to join our Finance team. Qualified candidate may work in the Westminster, MD or Mechanicsburg, PA branch location. This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule. Our ideal candidate is an organized, detail-oriented, and analytical individual with an enthusiasm to support the agricultural community. The hours of operations are typically, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY: Maintains the loan system and general ledger to ensure complete and accurate financial statements. This includes activities such as daily loan accounting, cash management, etc. Follows instructions and responds to supervisory direction.

Areas of responsibility include:

Processes: which may include but are not limited to:

General Loan Accounting, Cash Management, Equity, Tax, Reconciliations

Journal Entry Processing and Account Reconciliations:

Basic understanding of identified general ledger accounts, including source, mechanics and subsequent ramifications.
Concerted effort to identify, research, correct and document all errors and exceptions.
Timely and accurate preparation of necessary journal entries to ensure accuracy in available information.

Reporting:

Responsible for creation, verification, research, correction, and documentation of reports, including but not limited to the preparation of internal reports related to special assets processing.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or experience equivalent to a high school education with a specialized training on loan systems or accounting preferred.
Generally, zero to five years of related work experience.
Possess strong communications skills, both written and oral to represent the Association in a professional manner.
Ability to initiate, organize and prioritize work required.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their application to the function performed with Farm Credit.
Must possess analytical skills that are inherently required in an accounting/financial environment.
Must possess problem-solving skills necessary to solve routine accounting problems and make routine decisions.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects/assignments and meet deadlines.
Adaptable and flexible to a changing work environment.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Salary Range: $39,400 – $63,100, depending on experience.
