Position Summary: The Lending Specialist provides borrowers with excellent customer service by greeting them warmly, posting payments as directed, answering phones calls, filing loans documents electronically, and pulling daily reports for review and approval. The Lending Specialist will also support the location by maintaining supplies, marketing items and facility services as needed.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Loan Servicing and Closing
  • Imports loan documents into electronic filing software OnBase
  • Prints, mails or emails lending documents to various departments or customers
  • Ensures timely completion and scanning of filings, OnBase and post-/pre-close signed documents to borrowers
  • Reviews legal documents before sending to collateral custodian
  • Sends delinquency letters to customers
  • Coordinates with insurance specialist on borrower insurance and filings
  • Prepares mortgage releases after payoff is received
  • Prepares Loan Servicing Documents, Books Process and OnBase
  • Organizes, interprets and verifies legal descriptions and abstracts

Customer Service

  • Greets walk-in guests with a warm greeting and helps guests or directs them to the appropriate team member
  • Answers and directs phone calls to appropriate team members
  • Answers general questions and provides payment receipts to customers
  • Attends at least two marketing events annually
  • Coordinates with other team members on marketing, office supplies, activities and other events for the region

Teller

  • Posts monthly payment information to Teller based on data from NGS
  • Initiates wires
  • Disburses loan fees
  • Sends accounts payable and ACH’s to accounting for payment

Check 21

  • Determines if checks need to go to bank or through machine
  • Processes checks according to timelines
  • Balances Check21 inputs daily

Daily Reports

  • Runs daily and monthly reports regarding DFM, Drafts, ACH, LB, FTC, BLS and others as assigned
  • Identifies when to post transactions or make changes to an account
  • Obtains approval from Lending Officer or RVP
  • Scans approved report into OnBase

Facility Maintenance and Supplies

  • Performs minor facility maintenance
  • Identifies need for service on facilities
  • Schedules service as needed and monitors service delivery for facility needs
  • Ordering marketing items and giveaways
  • Checks office supply inventory
  • Orders online or picks up supplies at local stores

Data Security and Confidentiality

  • Appropriately protects the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or experience equivalent to perform the essential functions of the job
  • 1 year of related experience in banking, financial services, legal and title work, and customer service
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Working knowledge of the agriculture industry
  • Knowledge of Word/Excel/Outlook sufficient to create, update and save basic documents
  • General knowledge of basic accounting practices
  • Working knowledge in reading and identifying income statements, balance sheets, tax returns and other financial reports
  • Skill in negotiating general agreements to achieve the best outcome for the organization
  • Skill in listening and conveying awareness of a customer’s problem or issue to find resolution
  • Skill in utilizing technology to increase efficiency
  • Skill in interacting and working effectively with others
  • Skill in promoting the Association’s products and services
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining relationships with customers or vendors
  • Skill in organizing material and information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency
