Farm Credit of Southern Colorado (FCSC) is seeking an Sr. Banking Operations Specialist to join our team. The chosen candidate will serve as a key operational support resource responsible for executing and overseeing a variety of high-risk, high-visibility banking functions

 

This position is full time, working approximately 40 hours a week, and is benefits eligible. Occasional travel may be required to sufficiently support other locations within territory.

Position Summary:

The Senior Banking Operations Specialist serves as a key operational support resource responsible for executing and overseeing a variety of high-risk, high-visibility banking functions. This includes acting as the first backup to the cash desk, performing overrides for operations staff, managing ACH postings during system transitions, handling exception items such as duplicate deposits, and making critical updates to billing statements and payment schedules. The position requires cross-functional knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic banking environment.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

Banking Operations

  • Perform transaction overrides and approvals for operations specialists in accordance with bank policy and authority limits.
  • Post ACH and Draft transactions from the old routing number.
  • Review and resolve exception items such as duplicate entries for merchant capture and remote deposit.
  • Investigate and correct rejected transactions, including adjusting cost of funds balances when necessary.
  • Update and maintain customer billing statements and payment schedules to reflect accurate financial data.
  • Work closely with IT, treasury, and deposit operations to support file transitions and automation improvements.
  • Maintain documentation for all tasks performed, supporting audit readiness and internal control standards.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy

Operations Specialist Backup and Operations Support

Supplies backup support to all functions of the Operations Department sufficient to accomplish role objectives:

  • Provides physical presence in locations as needed for additional coverage and customer service
  • Processes transactions via cash, drafts, wires or lockbox
  • Establishes, documents, & reviews Daily Work file and corrects issues as needed by: Running and reviewing daily reports
  • Identifying and correcting any issues
  • Accurately filing daily work
  • Documenting all daily work as prescribed
  • Performs the Check21 process for the daily
  • Completes branch balancing by running reports and checking against processed Works with the Accounting Department to resolve discrepancies.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service in-person, by phone, or by email
  • Completes other duties as needed

E-Commerce Backup and Support

  • Supplies backup support sufficient to accomplish role objectives:
    • Monitor & Communicate enrollment requests to appropriate staff
    • Facilitate e-commerce product & service questions
    • Perform enrollment reviews
    • Maintain monitoring & reporting requirements
    • Monitor & fulfill purchase card requests & inquiries
    • Follow documents processes to complete various service enrollments

Cash Desk Backup and Support

  • Supplies backup support sufficient to accomplish role objectives:
    • Monitors, reviews, and approves outgoing wires
    • Performs verification call-backs
    • Monitors incoming wires and communicates processing instructions to appropriate staff
    • Completes internal transfers
    • Establishes & documents Daily Work file

 

Minimum Qualifying Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
  • 5 years of related Farm Credit Operations experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Knowledge of Process Mapping sufficient to create, update and improve digital workflows
  • General knowledge and practice of customer service principles and practices
  • Skill in learning and applying standard processes and procedures
  • General knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
  • Skill in oral and written communication, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor and borrowers
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite sufficient to create, update and save basic documents
  • Skill in creating and sustaining positive working relationships with co-workers
  • Skill in accurately copying, posting or transcribing data
  • Skill in interacting and working effectively with others
  • Skill in maintaining an organized work space
  • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner
  • Skill in listening and conveying awareness of a customer’s problem or issue to find resolution

Salary Range: $50,000 to $65,000.

 

This range is a good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of this posting. Actual salaries could vary and may be above or below the range as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.  Variation is based on various factors including but not limited to location, qualifications, experience, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.  In addition, benefits for this position include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, 401k, tax advantage accounts, paid vacation, sick leave and parental leave.
