We are seeking a Tax Officer who will develop and maintain solid knowledge of applicable systems. Prepare tax returns and participate in tax planning meetings. Portfolio Officers will prepare returns ranging from smaller less complex customers to larger more complex customers depending on experience. Experienced Officers are capable of addressing all aspects of tax process even in complex situations. Follow department and association established processes. Achieved Farm Credit tax certification and continues to grow professionally. Encouraged to work toward or have EA or CPA certification. Participate in department projects and committees. As experience progresses, shares expertise by participating in internal presentations and answering questions from other tax officers and teammates. Experienced Officers provide training and mentorship to less experienced tax teammates. Provide referrals to other teammates, identifying opportunities for collaboration and cross-selling.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Service and Operations
- Complete timely and technically accurate income tax returns for farming operations and owners of farmland, while providing quality customer service and advice. Types of returns include, but are not limited to, individuals, partnerships, C Corporations, and S Corporations. Ensure customers comply with periodic tax payments, information reporting, and other tax authority requirements, when applicable.
- Provide tax planning and other consulting to customers.
- Act as the primary contact for tax-related service for the customer.
- Manage own time to complete customer returns and planning by deadlines.
- Remain current on tax rules and regulations.
- Share expertise by delivering internal presentations and answering questions from other tax officers and teammates.
- Invoice customers according to price minimums and percentage increases.
- Follow department and association established processes.
- Actively participate in presentations at industry events and customer meetings to promote tax expertise.
- Sales
- Represent the Associations at industry and agricultural events in the region.
- Proactively provide referrals to other teammates, identifying opportunities for collaboration and cross-selling.
- Promote and build reputation and image within community, region, and association

- Volunteer for and collaborate with the team on special projects and initiatives.

Coordinate with Tax team members for complex tax rules and to provide customer problem resolution. Participate in department projects and committees. As experience progresses, shares expertise by participating in internal presentations and answering questions from other tax officers and teammates. Provide referrals to other teammates, identifying opportunities for collaboration and cross-selling.
