High Plains Farm Credit is a member of the Farm Credit System and services over $2.0+ billion loan assets. High Plains Farm Credit’s vision is to be the preferred source of agricultural financing.
High Plains Farm Credit also serves as the administrator of the Farm Credit Capital Group, a consortium of 16 Farm Credit System entities ($25BN+ in combined assets) which focuses on investing in senior secured bank debt issued by large corporate borrowers across the agriculture, food/beverage, energy infrastructure, and telecommunications sectors.
POSITION PURPOSE
High Plains Farm Credit is currently recruiting a Vice President – Credit, Capital Markets to support the SVP – Capital Markets by leading the credit underwriting function for High Plains Farm Credit’s Capital Markets department. The Vice President – Credit, Capital Markets will assign and manage underwriting workflow, review credit narratives for completeness and accuracy, approve loans within a committee structure, and directly supervise a team of credit analysts/underwriters. Lending, Credit and/or Syndications experience in a Farm Credit System Capital Markets group preferred.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead, supervise, and develop a team of Capital Markets credit underwriters.
- Assign and manage underwriting workflow.
- Recommend, support and/or approve credit requests as part of a committee structure.
- Assist with developing, and maintaining compliance with, appropriate credit policies, procedures and regulations.
- Oversee the loan monitoring/compliance function for the Capital Markets group.
- Occasionally attend lender meetings and other investor events on behalf of High Plains Farm Credit (estimated at 1-3 short trips per quarter).
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Corporate food and agriculture lending experience required.
- Prior experience in a Farm Credit System capital markets group preferred.
- Modest travel flexibility required.
- Knowledge of credit principles, macro-economic trends, common lending practices, and agricultural markets required.
