WASHINGTON, D.C. – Farm Credit Council President and CEO Todd Van Hoose made the following statement on the announcement of Janie Hipp leading the Native Agriculture Financial Services (NAFS) organization.

“Farm Credit congratulates Janie Hipp on her selection to lead NAFS. She brings a strong background in public service and non-profit leadership aimed at advocating for Indian Ag Country.

“Janie’s leadership of NAFS will continue that service as she establishes this innovative lending institution with ties to Farm Credit.

“Farm Credit has worked with Native American agriculture organizations for many years to find innovative ways to increase access to credit. And NAFS offers an important, necessary and creative solution for bringing additional credit to Indian Ag Country.

“Farm Credit fully backs the NAFS business model of supporting Native farmers and ranchers by participating in loans with Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) lending to agriculture.

“We look forward to working with Janie and her team at NAFS as the organization leverages Farm Credit’s funding in support of increasing access to credit across Indian Ag Country.”
