An ear of field corn at harvest.

As Thanksgiving approaches, so do thoughts of roasted turkeys, mashed potatoes and pecan pie.

Preparing the meal

In the days and weeks to come, families across America will dig out cherished family recipes, craft shopping lists and head to their nearest grocery store to ensure that they have everything to make this family holiday go off without a hitch.

However, many Americans’ thoughts of the food they plan to prepare stops at the grocery store. Removed from the hands that harvested the cranberries for the sauce and cleaned the birds for the roast, it’s important to remember how and where those ingredients were produced, let alone to thank the people who produced them.

That’s how Thanksgiving goes at Farm Credit. Here, it means so much more than just one delicious and hearty meal.

Farm Credit gives thanks

Farm Credit is grateful for the farmers who raised the grain, fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy and nuts that will find their way to dining room tables across America. Farm Credit is grateful for the physical and mental toil spent planning, planting, caring for and harvesting the crops; for the farm families and the rural communities that support the farmers; and for the infrastructure that enables the American agriculture system.

We understand the great sacrifice made to ensure that the rest of us are fed. We proudly and excitedly thank our farmers, the very people who produce the food, fiber and fuel that enable our lives, each and every day. This Thanksgiving, we hope you will do the same.
