WASHINGTON, D.C. – Farm Credit Council reinforced its commitment to supporting climate-smart agriculture by joining the Food and Agriculture Climate Alliance (FACA).  

“Farm Credit Council is proud to join the Food and Agriculture Climate Alliance and join the agriculture community in supporting climate-smart agriculture,” said Farm Credit Council President and CEO Todd Van Hoose. “We have generations of experience financing climate-smart ag and look forward to working with the members of the Alliance, and with lawmakers, to identify and promote voluntary, market-based policies that consider the steps our customers have taken to date as they tackle the challenges created by climate change.” 

“Farmers are on the front lines of climate change, with increasingly extreme and variable weather already having severe impacts on farmer livelihoods,” said Maggie Monast, director of working lands at Environmental Defense Fund, a co-chair and founding member of FACA. “As farmers’ close financial partners, agricultural lenders have a critical role to play in understanding these risks and supporting farmers’ efforts to build resilience. I’m pleased to see Farm Credit Council acknowledge this role and participate in this unprecedented alliance to develop climate policies that support a resilient future for U.S. agriculture.”
