Washington, D.C. – Leaders from more than 50 other farm and rural-focused organizations heard today from Trump Administration officials about upcoming plans to improve rural infrastructure. The meeting follows a previous meeting at the White House and a letter that Farm Credit and more than 200 organizations sent to President Donald J. Trump encouraging him to focus on rural infrastructure and #RebuildRural.
“We are grateful for the Administration’s focus on rural infrastructure.” said Farm Credit Council CEO and meeting participant Todd Van Hoose. “The incoming team at USDA appears very focused on streamlining programs and speeding up projects that will improve the quality of life in rural communities.”
“The executive level of involvement and attention from USDA in developing the infrastructure bill bodes well for rural America, said National Rural Water Association Washington Representative Keith Heard. “Water/Waste water infrastructure spending is a fast way to create jobs in rural America.”
“Robust and sustainable rural broadband infrastructure is a critical element in maintaining this nation’s competitive edge in growing global economies. It supports manufacturing, agriculture, education and other inputs necessary for a thriving national economy, and NTCA looks forward to working with policymakers and the Rebuild Rural Coalition to secure our country’s future,” said NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association CEO Shirley Bloomfield.
