Farm Credit today announced the top honorees of the Farm Credit 100 Fresh Perspectives program, a nationwide search to identify and honor 100 leaders who are changing rural communities and agriculture for the better. The top 100 honorees are being recognized for their exceptional contributions to their communities, and were announced at a National Ag Day event at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The Farm Credit System today reported combined net income of $4.688 billion for the year ended December 31, 2015, as compared with $4.724 billion for the prior year. The System also reported combined net income of $1.207 billion for the fourth quarter of 2015, as compared with $1.155 billion for the fourth quarter of 2014.

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) and Farm Credit joined together to celebrate 100 years of service to agriculture during a congressional reception in the United States Capitol yesterday evening. The reception was widely attended by Farm Credit leaders, commissioners, secretaries and directors of agriculture, Members of Congress, leadership from federal agencies, and agriculture industry stakeholders.
February 2, 2016Farm Credit Opens 50 Year-Old Time Capsule to Celebrate 100 Years of Service to Rural Communities and Agriculture
Farm Credit today unveiled the contents of a time capsule buried in Larned, Kan. in 1967 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Federal Land Bank system, the precursor to today’s Farm Credit System, which supports rural communities and agriculture with reliable, consistent credit and financial services. Among the items revealed were predictions from Farm Credit leaders about agriculture and financing conditions today, and documents from the first-ever loan made by Farm Credit in 1917. Former Kansas Senator Bob Dole, along with current Kansas Senators Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran, participated in today’s event at the Farm Credit Council annual meeting.
