There’s never a dull day at Abundant Grace Farms.
Brian and Jessica Perez own and operate Abundant Grace Farms in Denton, Maryland, where they produce a diverse portfolio of agriculture products. They grow flowers on contract for Bell Nursery and the Home Depot, produce certified organic grain, and raise pastured pork, which they sell through local farmers’ markets.
Making dreams a reality
Prior to farming, Brian served 25 years in the United States Military, including a tour in Iraq in 2007. Upon retiring, Brian and Jessica decided to take their lives in a different direction. Having both grown up on farms, at least for portions of their childhoods, they decided that an agricultural lifestyle was what they wanted for their children and they started Abundant Grace Farms. With support from Horizon Farm Credit, they were able to make that dream a reality.
“[Farming] was something that we felt made an impact on our lives and we wanted our children to also experience that growing up,” Brian said.
A family affair
Jessica said, “We homeschool our children, so our business and our home life and the kids’ school life is all on the farm. The whole day revolves around our family, which is really what we wanted.”
When it comes to farm work, the Perez boys are out there alongside their parents accomplishing the necessary tasks. Jessica said, “We’re all, as a family, intricate in the farm. When Brian needs help, we all go down to the greenhouse. It’s kind of neat, bringing on the next generation.”
