“Southern AgCredit is not setting you up to fail. They’re looking out for you to make sure that you do succeed.”

Jason Ellzey came home from a full day of meetings with a variety of lenders and all he could talk about was Southern AgCredit. 

His wife Lindsey remembers, “Jason came home and told me about the different banks that he had talked to and kept going back to Southern AgCredit, because of the relationships that he formed quickly with the guys that he talked to.” And this was just the beginning of a supportive and compassionate relationship between Jason and Lindsey and their loan officers at Southern AgCredit. 

In the Bad Times

Shortly after the Ellzey’s began their poultry farming business, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. As soon as cell service returned, one of the first people to call the Ellzey’s was their loan officer from Southern AgCredit. Jason remembers him saying, “Whatever’s happened to your poultry houses, don’t worry about it, we can rebuild them. Are you and your family ok?”

Southern AgCredit’s unwavering support for the Ellzey’s poultry business, despite the destruction of Katrina, and their concern for the Ellzey family made a big impact on Jason and Lindsey  “That just really touched our hearts and again proved to us that we made the right decision, using Southern AgCredit” said Lindsey

Next Steps

Thinking towards the future, the Ellzey children are young and have time before they’ll choose a future career or lifestyle. However, Jason feels that the experience of growing up on the farm has been invaluable for them. It has taught them important lessons about hope and new beginnings. No matter what has happened in the past, they’ll know that “next year’s a new spring and that wherever they are in life there’s always a reward at the end of the season” Jason said.
