“Be good to the land and the land will be good to you.” 

This philosophy has been passed down through six generations of Jones family farmers. Today, Jamie and Christiana Jones follow in the footsteps of their predecessors as they pass this mentality down to their own three children.

Together with Jamie’s parents, Taryn and Jean, the Jones family produces strawberries, blueberries, pumpkins and Christmas trees on over 400 acres. 

A New Adventure

While studying at Cornell University, Jamie became interested in the wine industry. After graduating, he came back to the family farm to manage crop production and start a vineyard. Today, they also produce more than 5,000 cases of wine annually. 

In addition to crop production, the Joneses welcome thousands of guests onto their farm each year. Jamie feels this plays an important role in educating people about agriculture. “Their visit to our farm may be their only experience visiting a working farm. I’m able to share my knowledge and passion for farming and working the land that farmers all over the northeast have,” he said. 

Commitment to Community 

In addition to educating farm visitors about what it means to live on a working farm, Jamie also actively participates in agricultural organizations in his community. He and his family believe in service to the community.

The Joneses have been Farm Credit customers for four generations. As Jamie looks to the future, he thinks about his children, who already aspire to take over the farm someday. “I recognize the importance of Farm Credit. It’s been around for 100 years, and I want to be sure that it will be there for my kids just as it’s been there for the previous generations.”
