There’s nothing a little TLC can’t fix—including a log cabin!
Michael Johnathon had saved up his whole life, waiting to find and purchase his own home. And then he found the perfect place. A log cabin outside of Lexington, Kentucky. It was a little run down, but Michael didn’t mind. He was excited to work hard, fix it up and make it into the beautiful home he had coveted.
Turned Away
However, when Michael tried to find a lender to finance the house, he went to not one, not two, not three, but seven different banks and they all turned him down. Michael was frustrated and started losing hope when a friend suggested that he try Central Kentucky AgCredit.
Never Lose Sight
His first loan application with Ag Credit was also denied because it lacked the support of Fannie Mae. But that wasn’t the end of Michael’s story with Farm Credit as is had been with the other lenders. “Out of the blue, I got a phone call from the president of Central Kentucky AgCredit, Jim Caldwell,” Michael said. Jim didn’t agree with Fannie Mae and decided that AgCredit would finance Michael’s home within their own means.
Michael was elated. “The only reason I’m able to have a beautiful log cabin home is because Ag Credit is so helpful, generous and community-minded. They are full of people who cared about me,” he said.
