Niemeier Farms

Rooted in Tradition

In the heart of Madison County, Illinois, third-generation farmers Dan and Emilee Niemeier are cultivating more than just crops, they’re growing a legacy. The Niemiers are part-time farmers raising corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, and cattle, all while managing full-time careers and a family life.

Dan serves as a territory manager for Farmers Business Network, while Emilee brings her talents to the local public school district as a speech-language pathologist. Despite their busy professional lives, the couple remains deeply connected to the land and their agricultural roots.

Building on a Legacy

Since 2017, Dan and Emilee have steadily grown their involvement, eventually starting their own family farm on the Alhambra property.

“My parents made a fantastic effort in developing a good future for me,” Dan reflects. “Once we started having children, I realized those efforts were valuable, and I’d like to establish those same values in my children as well.”

Raising their children while managing careers and the farm is a balancing act that requires flexibility, creativity and a whole lot of teamwork.

Investing in Their Future

This year, the Niemeiers were honored with the Farm Credit Illinois FreshRoots Directors Cup Award, a recognition that celebrates young and beginning farmers making an impact.

Despite the challenges the Niemeiers experienced as beginning farmers, they remain optimistic and forward-thinking.

“The projects and the farm, it’s never-ending,” Emilee said. “There’s always something that needs fixing. But it’s awesome to receive recognition for continuing to work hard to build something for our family.”

For Dan, farming is more than a job—it’s character-building, and it’s about legacy. “It’s all about the next generations. I’ll support any dream my children want to chase—but they’re going to remember where they came from.”

Through every season, the Niemeiers are planting the seeds of perseverance, integrity, and hope—for their children, their farm, and the generations yet to come.
