Plan Bee Farm Brewery

An Idea Born into a Dream

In 2013, Emily and Evan Watson established Plan Bee Farm Brewery through creative experiences they both had from previous careers. Emily’s experience growing up on her family farm in Ohio, paired with Evan’s years working at an esteemed brewery, made the perfect recipe for launching their own operation.

In 2013, the pair leased a small farm in Fishkill, New York, and began working on their dream of running a 100% sustainable brewery.

In 2015, Plan Bee purchased a 25-acre farm in Poughkeepsie, New York, which features a fully renovated 3-story barn built in the 1830s. The barn houses their stainless steel 10BBL steam-fire brewhouse, local HV open oak fermenters, and coolship where they produce their 100% New York-ingredient farmhouse ales tied directly to the farm and the Hudson Valley.

From Ground to Glass

Emily and Evan pride themselves on running an operation brewers can count on for local ingredients. They source all their ingredients in New York or grown on their farmlands. Plan Bee beers go from ground to glass, within measurable feet of their origins.

From the yeast cultivated from the honeycomb of their bees to the grain and hops in their fields, they create their beers with only local resources. And their goal is to work with local businesses to produce a delicious product for the community they serve.

In 2020, Emily and Evan successfully fulfilled their goal in reducing the radius of their sourced ingredients to only their farm to create a line of Estate Beers. Each year, they produce at least one beverage that they can boast, “I planted & processed everything in this beer personally.”

Emily and Evan are proud customers of Farm Credit East.
