PlantTape

For Brian Antle, agriculture is everything.

Brian Antle serves as the president of PlantTape, which is located in the Salinas Valley of California. PlantTape is an innovative automated transplanting system that has enabled farmers across the globe to transplant faster and with fewer people. PlantTape uses 97 percent less peat and plants three times as many plants six times faster compared to traditional transplanting methods.

PlantTape was originally created in Spain, but in 2014, Brian purchased the company soon after learning about it and has made PlantTape available around the world. In partnership with Tanimura & Antle, the PlantTape system was further developed and proven successful by transplanting 40,000 acres of vegetables over the course of three years.

It’s a Way of Life

For Brian, agriculture is all he’s ever known and ever wanted to know. “It’s waking up early, going to be late, working on the weekends,” Brian said. “Working in the rain, the sun, the snow. Whatever the case may be. So, really it is a way of life.”

An Innovative Partner

For a cutting edge company like Tanimura & Antle and PlantTape, choosing a reliable lender with a deep understanding of the industry was vital. That’s why the Antle family chose American AgCredit. “We’ve been partners with American AgCredit for over 20 years,” Brian said. “They allow us the flexibility to continue to look for new investments and develop new innovations, such as PlantTape.”

“They’ve been great partners because they understand the cyclical nature of our business, how it is all market-driven…and they allow us the flexibility to continue to look for new investments and develop new innovations, such as plant tape,” Brian said.
