Henderson County, North Carolina
Greg Nix knows apples, and the apple business. Recognized by his peers locally and nationally, he brings that expertise to his job leading Apple Wedge Packers every day.
Different than the competition
Apple Wedge Packers is a fifth-generation, family-owned business in Henderson County, North Carolina. One of the largest volume shippers of fresh apples in the state, they produce apple cider from their own trees and with apples from other farms in the area. Their state-of-the-art packing and storage facilities sets them apart from the competition.
A trusted lender
Greg has worked with Carolina Farm Credit for over thirty-five years, as his operation has grown tremendously. When Greg started in the apple business, he had about 30 acres and approximately 2,000 trees. Today the orchards consist of approximately 150 acres and 45,000 trees. Originally working with FSA as a lender, “The people I work with, they want to have an understanding of my business. I'm not just a number on a piece of paper, and I really do appreciate that.”
Greg has worked with other lenders and says that the system he has with Carolina Farm Credit and his operating line of credit simply works better than past experiences. He appreciates that Farm Credit understands the value of his time. On any given day, he wears many different hats – as the grower, packer, business owner, chemist and tractor mechanic.
“If I had to rate my experience of working with Carolina Farm Credit on a scale of one to 10, I would put it at 11. Carolina Farm Credit has been nothing but great.”
