Brad and Amy Bean own and operate Bean Holstein Farm in Liberty, Mississippi. With an interest in continuing the family tradition, Brad purchased the family operation with the help of Farm Service Agency (FSA) loans and Farm Credit. According to Brad, he “wouldn’t be here today without FSA.” Today, the Bean operation includes dairy, corn, sorghum and timber, with Brad also serving on the Farm Credit Bank of Texas board. As a Farm Credit director, Brad understands the critical role FSA loans play as a source of capital for young and beginning farmers – especially with the cost of land, equipment and production going up every day. Listen as he explains why increasing the limits of FSA loans is needed to better support those who will carry agriculture into its next generation.
