J.D. Mushrooms

John D’Amico, a third-generation mushroom-farmer, operates J.D. Mushroom Farms in Avondale, PA. He’s been in business for 37 years, following in the footsteps of his father and his grandfather who started the business in 1932.

New partnership
John wished to find a new lender to finance his mushroom operation and after conducting extensive research on which to choose, he decided to become a customer-owner of Horizon Farm Credit. He now uses Farm Credit for all his real estate, equipment and buildings. “We chose to go with Farm Credit and we have been very satisfied. It’s been a very good relationship.”

John had a handful of smaller loans prior to working with Farm Credit, but when he decided to make the switch, Horizon Farm Credit “came in and cleaned up a couple of small loans and put it together in a package. It was a better rate than what I was paying before.” John said.

Positive relationships
In addition to the positive experiences he has had with Farm Credit financially, John has also developed a strong relationship with his loan officer, Amanda. He said, “She’s done an outstanding job of meeting our demands. Right from the start, with the business model and the business plan, Amanda did a whole lot of background work. It has been very fruitful and it continues to go well today.”
