Joe and Bethany Drelick fell in love with an expanse of golden rod, weeds and saplings.
Finding home
Where other people saw nothing, they saw their future home. “Something about it made my eyes light up and I saw something special in the land. I was able to visualize it all and I fell in love with it,” said Joe.
Joe and Bethany had been searching for a home for a while, but were not finding anything that satisfied their needs, so they decided to build their own.
Farm Credit steps up where others won’t
Once they chose the land, they needed to find someone to finance it. Bethany reached out to a variety of local banks but had no luck. “None of them wanted to handle a vacant land loan, you know, not enough collateral there for them,” she said.
Seeing their struggle, Bethany’s dad suggested that they try talking with Horizon Farm Credit. That’s when everything changed.
Bethany called Horizon and received a prompt and energized response. “They called me back right away and very enthusiastically and said, ‘yeah, we’ll help you do this,’” she said.
Part of the Farm Credit family
Unlike their previous experiences, when Joe and Bethany began working with Horizon, they felt like they were working with family. “Even though we were dealing with Horizon from a bit of a distance away, it still felt like they were close and local,” Joe said.
In addition to feeling like a valued member of the Farm Credit community, Bethany and Joe appreciated how responsive and knowledgeable the team was at Horizon. “They were very fast throughout the whole process…because this is what they do,” said Bethany.
